Excellence Initiative: the University of Paris Seine launches a second call for proposals in support of research development

Cergy, 20th March 2018 – Within the framework of the Paris-Seine Excellence Initiative, a second call for proposals has been launched in support of research development. Last June, 35 research projects as well as the ESSEC PhD programme were retained for a total funding of approximately €4.2m.

The current call for proposals aims to financially support projects coming from the scientific community and contribute to the development of scientific excellence. The quality of the projects, the visibility they will bring, and the dynamic of excellence will be decisive factors. Projects notably targeted will be those that enable the emergence of new research themes, the strengthening of doctoral and post-doctoral training, the increase in attractiveness and international visibility, the emergence of cross-functional projects combining several research bodies of the University of Paris Seine, and the development of research partnerships linked to the socio-economic world.

Supported projects will notably be able to contribute to the development of international scientific collaboration with certain privileged partners of the Paris-Seine Excellence Initiative (particularly in Europe, the University of Warwick, and in Asia, Nanyang Technological University). They may also be part of the development of cross-functional and innovative research projects sustaining the deployment of new graduate schools and linked to the forthcoming EUR national call for proposals.

This second Paris-Seine Excellence Initiative call for proposals comprises four main areas of focus:
  • The financing of doctoral and post-doctoral contracts
  • The financing of invited professors
  • Support for emerging research projects
  • Recruitment assistance.
Applications will be assessed by the Scientific Committee in May, for the results to be announced towards June 15th 2018.
